David Barszcz Obituary, Death – After a valiant fight against esophageal cancer, David M. Barszcz, 70, passed away suddenly on July 24, 2023 from cardiac arrest. His passing came after an extraordinarily long life. He was the son of Edward W. and Alfreda (Gawron) Barszcz and was born on August 5, 1952 in Ludlow, Massachusetts. His mother’s maiden name was Gawron. Dave spent his childhood in Ludlow, and then later moved to Northern Virginia, where he served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at the Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, District of Columbia. In 1978, Dave and his wife Nancy made the move to Belchertown, Massachusetts, where they established their house and raised their two kids.
Dave spent 38 years as a commercial banker and found great fulfillment in serving his community in this capacity. He was most proud of his time spent serving as President of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club, and Corporator of the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club, among the numerous organizations in which he was active. He was involved with a large number of organizations. In 1990, he had the privilege of presenting former President Ronald Reagan with an award on behalf of the Calvin Coolidge Commemorative Society, which he led at the time.
Dave was a devoted family man who found immense happiness in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. The day he became a Dziadziu was a particularly exciting one for him. On any given day, you have an equal chance of finding Dave on the golf course, toiling away in his vegetable garden, or concocting something new in the kitchen, where he is constantly attempting new recipes. Cooking for the people he cared about offered him more happiness than anything else. His homemade pierogis and chicken francaise, in addition to everything that can be cooked on the grill or in the smoker, are among his specialties. To say that he was a devoted supporter of the Patriots would be an understatement given that he never missed a single game. He found a great deal of joy in both listening to old school rock and roll and hanging out with his close circle of pals.
