lan Deveau Obituary, Death Cause – Theodore Gerard Deveau born January 10, 1959 to Hebron residents Cliff and Anita Deveau. David and Gail’s younger sibling. He completed a semester at Kings Edgehill while attending Hebron School and YCMHS. When he was younger, he traveled to horse shows and exhibitions to compete since he was so passionate about English horseback riding.
Alan was interested in fashion from a young age and was pleased to have been the first person in Yarmouth to don painter pants, duck boots, panties, and buffalo sandals. He was always willing to give advice on good movies to watch or books to read.
He went to Acadia University and an acting school in New York City after high school. He spent some time in Toronto working on Holt Renfrew’s retail window designs. He dressed the Mills Brothers’ windows when he got back to Halifax.
People in the film industry are extremely complimentary of his professionalism, competence, and work ethic. In the CBC television series Sons and Daughters, he appeared in Screwballs, Recruits, Loose Screws, The Good House, and the episode Pick Me Up at Peggy’s Cove. He worked in the following films and series in no particular order as an on-set dresser in Shipping News,
From (seasons 1&2 and set to do season 3 this summer), Amelia, Pure (both seasons), Hard Drive, Call Me Fritz, Faith, Fraud and Minimum Wage, Noah’s Ark, Summerhood, Just Buried, Poor Boys Game, Sex Traffic, Sleep Murder, A Hole-in-One, Too Young to be a Dad, Haven (5 seasons), Sea Change, Chapelwaite, Boots of Blood and Washington Black (not yet released). He worked as a production designer for the films Back in Your Arms and Hide and Seek. Alan was clever, hilarious, and entertaining! At the beach, you couldn’t sit with Alan without hearing laughter.
When traveling with him, you would stop at antique shops and drive on country roads as he planned every adventure on the spot. Alan was the kind of person to whom it would be impossible to say no. His antics and persona were perfect for the big screen. He was our main attraction and a pain in the behind. You can contribute to the Yarmouth Food Bank. In the coming weeks, a funeral mass date will be published on the Facebook and website of Sweeny’s Funeral Home.
