Anthony J Milone Death: Stamford CT Fire Chief Has Sadly Passed Away
It is with deep sorrow that the Stamford Fire Department announces the passing of retired Fire Chief Anthony J. Milone. Chief Milone, affectionately known as Tony, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, surrounded by his devoted family. Anthony Milone was born on March 9, 1938, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Theodore and Helen Milone. He spent his formative years in Stamford, where he developed a love for carpentry, studying the trade at J.M. Wright Technical School. Tony became a skilled carpenter, earning a reputation for his ability to build anything with precision and care.
Tony’s passion for service led him to join the Stamford Fire Department, where he dedicated his life to protecting his community. His leadership qualities and commitment to his fellow firefighters were evident early on, and in 1998, he was appointed Chief of Fire. Throughout his career, Anthony took great pride in his work, often speaking with admiration for his brothers in the department.
After 33 years of distinguished service, Chief Milone retired on July 1, 2000, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and dedication. Tony shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Marguerette Milone, to whom he was married for 64 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three sons and fulfilling their dreams. Tony enjoyed spending time in his yard, playing golf, and sharing evenings with friends, cherishing the simple joys of life.
In retirement, Tony embraced a new chapter, moving to Apache Junction, Arizona, where he spent over 20 years living his dream in the home he built beneath the majestic Superstition Mountains. He reveled in the beauty of the West, yet in 2021, he returned to Connecticut to be close to his family, savoring the east coast breeze and the company of his loved ones.
Anthony is survived by his three sons, Theodore (Lynn), Emil (Alma), and Anthony Jr. (Dana), all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He was also a devoted grandfather to Kelly, Anthony III (Samantha), Thomas (Morgan), Haylee, and Mia, and recently celebrated becoming a great-grandfather to Theodore T. Milone, who always brought a smile to Pop’s face.
