Pakuranga Shooting: Several police officers and St John Ambulance paramedics are responding to an incident in east Auckland this morning, August 19. According to news reports, residents in Pakuranga reported hearing what sounded like gunshots just before 7 a.m.
Locals have gone to social media to address the unsettling scenario, with one person writing: “A driver was apprehended by officers with guns on Cascades Rd right in front of me soon after 7 a.m. “A stocky person was detained, and an ambulance was routed to a different destination. More officers flew past to a different address! “That was quite scary!”
The police activity appears to be focused on or near Marvon Downs Avenue in Pakuranga. Nearby Elm Park School has issued an alert on its Facebook page, stating: “Important Notice: Due to a major incident on Marvon Downs Road, which police have reacted to, please know that Elm Park School is not in immediate danger.
“However, there is a significant police presence, which may impede entrance to the school from Cascades Road. “I spoke with the police this morning and was assured that the school could remain open. If any updates are required, I will send out another notification. Sarah Baleicakau, Principal.
