What Happened To Dylan Scirpo?
On Sunday evening, August 11, a train struck and killed a person near the Encinal Avenue crossing in Menlo Park. A representative for the Menlo Park Fire Protection District stated that the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
Around 9 p.m., a southbound train struck the victim near the Encinal Avenue crossing. The Encinal Avenue crossing was closed for several hours on Sunday evening, but reopened by Monday AM, August 12. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Dylan Scirpo, of Menlo Park.
Caltrain dispatched another train to accommodate the trapped passengers at about 10 p.m., according to an X post from @CaltrainAlerts. The individual was hit by one of Caltrain’s new electric trains. According to a Caltrain press statement, Sunday was the first day that these trains operated on regular service lines.
