One man has been injured following a shooting at the Bud Billiken Parade 2024 (the largest African American parade in the United States), on Saturday. According to law enforcement agencies, one man was grazed by a gunshot following an altercation at the 95th Annual Bud Billiken Parade 2024.
Many law enforcement were sent to the west side of the street at the Bud Billiken Parade following a report of a fight involving over a dozen individuals. Multiple stampedes have also been reported as people and participants flee the scene of the shooting.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
What To Note:
Parade Route: The parade starts at King Drive and Oakwood Boulevard. Traveling south, the parade enters Washington Park via Ellsworth Drive and ends at 55th Street.
Expect street closures throughout the procession route. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or prepare alternative routes.
Public Safety: The Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and the Traffic Management Authority will be present to ensure public safety and traffic movement.

Jason Weaver, a music artist and actor, serves as this year’s Grand Marshal. There will also be a Back to School Festival in Washington Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring special performances, free haircuts and styles, a job fair, and local merchants.
