Raina Simpson, a resident of Somerset, and a beloved wife and mother of three passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at her home. She was 37 years old at the time of her death. She was announced dead through a social media post that read “Breaks my heart! I’ve followed Raina Simpson and her cancer journey for sometime now and there used to be NO doubt she’s walking the streets of gold with her beautiful radiant smile. Prayers for her family/friends and especially her husband and boys! Wear your crown sweet lady.”
What happened to Raina Simpson?
Raina Simpson was a loving wife to Dustin Simpson, her husband, and a loving mother to Deacon, Judah, and Titus. A golfball-sized growth in her colon and several tumors on her liver were the cause of Raina’s surprise diagnosis of Stage 4 Colon Cancer in June 2020, just weeks before her 33rd birthday. Raina had given birth to her third child. Under the guidance of UK Markey Cancer Center, Raina would fight for her life in the ensuing years by going through several tests, surgeries, and chemotherapy.
Raina’s family and friends were thrilled to hear her ring the bell at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky, one year later in August 2021, marking the fortunate end of a courageous battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. During this time, Raina quickly turned her attention from recovering to using her ministry, Eyes on You, to support other cancer patients and their caregivers. She founded Hope 712, a nonprofit organization, to help and support other families whose loved ones are battling cancer.
