Susan McHugh Obituary, Death News – The Portland Police Department has reported that one of the four individuals shot near Morrill’s Corner has succumbed to her injuries. Susan McHugh, a 54-year-old resident of Gray, passed away as a result of the injuries sustained during the shooting that occurred on Tuesday night in the 1110 block of Forest Avenue, as announced by the police on Wednesday evening.
Authorities indicated that the shooting was reported at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, and McHugh, along with three other injured individuals, was transported to Maine Medical Center. The Portland Police Department has not yet provided any updates regarding the conditions of the other victims.
Surveillance footage shared with Jim Keithley reveals that the incident took place in the parking lot of the Meineke located at 1155 Forest Avenue, at the intersection with Morrill Street. Keithley noted the presence of significant blood stains in that area.
Police informed Keithley that they preferred the surveillance video from Meineke not be made public; however, they permitted Maine’s Total Coverage to release an alternative video showing a parking lot on Bishop Street, situated behind the McDonald’s at 1208 Forest Avenue.
In the Bishop Street footage, which is available for viewing below, 18 gunshots can be heard around the time of the incident, with individuals seen fleeing for safety.
The Portland Police Department stated that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on McHugh, determining that her death was caused by a gunshot wound and classified as a homicide.
“She was an incredibly passionate and loving individual. Her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and husband was profound, and she cared deeply for others. Her life truly deserves to be celebrated,” remarked Rochelle Albert, who was acquainted with McHugh through the hospitality sector in Portland. “The manner of her passing feels profoundly unjust, and it represents a significant loss for our community.”
As of now, police have not disclosed any information regarding potential suspects related to the shooting, but they have assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
On Thursday, Portland police Major Robert Martin issued a statement.
