Ericka Brown Obituary, Victim identified in Schenectady homicide
The Schenectady Police Department reports it is investigating a homicide. It occurred on Wednesday night.
Patrol officers responded to an address on Charles Street between State Street and Albany Street at around 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a woman who had been shot. Upon arrival, police say they found a woman suffering from a gunshot who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 30-year-old Ericka Brown. Officers say they also found a man in his 40s with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the scene who was detained and is at a local hospital.
Five children in the home were unharmed and are with family now. Three of the five children were the victim’s own.
