Alexander Teshima Chong Obituary, – An individual from Essex County passed away on Sunday following a collision between his motorcycle and another bike on Route 1, as reported by the authorities. The victim was identified by the police as Alexander Teshima Chong, aged 45, from Belleville.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, a group of motorcycles was heading north on Route 1 near Old Post Road close to the Infiniti dealership when two motorcycles collided. Subsequently, one of the riders hit the back of a car that had stopped for a traffic light. Both riders were thrown off their motorcycles, with one of them going under the car, according to Police Chief Thomas Bryan. Chong was declared deceased at the scene, Bryan confirmed. The other motorcyclist was reported to be in stable condition on Monday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
However, the police have not disclosed his name, age, or place of residence. It is believed that both individuals were associated with a motorcycle club located in North Jersey. Bryan emphasized that speed played a role in the accident. The affected section of Route 1 was shut down to traffic for approximately 90 minutes, with drivers being redirected to nearby side streets.
