Tyasia Manning,Phylicia Council Obituary – Two women lost their lives due to a mass shooting at a Rochester park on Sunday, with five others sustaining “relatively minor injuries,” as reported by the Rochester police. Around 6:20 p.m., multiple shots were fired at a large gathering in the park near Bridge View Drive, stated Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department.
On Sunday, Tyasia Manning, 25, passed away, and several hours later, Phylicia Council, 34, succumbed to her injuries, as announced by Rochester Police Chief David Smith during a late morning press conference. Mayor Malik Evans of Rochester described the deceased women as innocent victims of the shooting, who were part of the crowd enjoying a barbecue at the park when the tragic incident occurred. Manning, who was one of the victims, was identified as a City of Rochester employee working in Rochester’s R-centers.
The injured victims were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, some via ambulance and others by private vehicles, according to Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the fatal shootings. The investigation into the mass shooting in Rochester, NY, is ongoing. Smith mentioned that the group at the park had been peacefully picnicking all afternoon before the shooting incident.
During the news conference, Smith stated that officers are searching for multiple individuals, although it remains unclear whether the shooters were part of the gathering or came from outside the park to carry out the attack. Smith also mentioned that shots were fired from various weapons.
Videos circulating online depict a chaotic scene with women trying to assist a shooting victim on the ground as first responders arrived at the location. Officers continued their investigation at the scene on Monday morning.
