Oliver Dawes,Matthew Bird Obituary, – Matthew Bird, 21, was identified as the pilot of the two-seater light aeroplane, with Oliver Dawes, 24, as the passenger, according to North Yorkshire Police. The tragic incident occurred when their plane crashed in a rural area near Selby, specifically in Thorganby, around 9.50am on Sunday.
IN A STATEMENT, MR. DAWES’ FAMILY, FROM BURLEY IN WHARFEDALE, EXPRESSED THEIR PROFOUND GRIEF: “YESTERDAY, WE LOST A BELOVED SON, COUSIN, NEPHEW, AND FRIEND. OLIVER WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS AND MEMORIES AS THE KIND, HARDWORKING, AND FUN-LOVING MAN HE WAS. WE WILL CARRY HIS MEMORY WITH US EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.”
SIMILARLY, MR. BIRD’S FAMILY, FROM SPOFFORTH, SHARED THEIR DEVASTATION: “YESTERDAY, WE LOST OUR SON, A BROTHER, GRANDSON, NEPHEW, COUSIN, AND FRIEND. MATTHEW HELD A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE HEARTS OF MANY. WHILE WE ARE HEARTBROKEN, HIS MEMORY WILL LIVE ON THROUGH THE CHERISHED MOMENTS HE LEFT US WITH.” AUTHORITIES ARE ACTIVELY INVESTIGATING THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE CRASH, WITH COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE POLICE AND THE AIR ACCIDENTS INVESTIGATION BRANCH.
