Kay A. Hannon Death: Kay A. Hannon, a beloved resident of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 77. She was surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s residence in Valdosta, Georgia, as she departed this world for her heavenly home.
A memorial service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 29, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The service will be officiated by Rev. Blane Jacobs, with heartfelt eulogies delivered by Anne Nelms and Doreen Wilson. Interment will be private, and friends and family are invited to gather and share memories following the service.
Born on February 6, 1947, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Kay was the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy “Dot” Beggs Alligood. Her strong work ethic was cultivated early on as she assisted her father at Friedlander’s Department Store. A 1965 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, Kay was an accomplished musician and majorette, earning the title of head majorette in her senior year. Her involvement in school activities, including being a sub-deb, reflected her vibrant personality and leadership qualities.
Kay dedicated many years to working in various dental and medical offices within the community, but her most cherished role was that of a stay-at-home mom. She found immense joy in raising her children and nurturing her family. Known for her culinary skills, Kay had a passion for cooking and baking, creating countless delicious meals and treats for her loved ones. An avid reader, she particularly enjoyed reading her Bible, drawing inspiration and strength from its teachings.
Family gatherings were among Kay’s most treasured moments, and Christmas held a special place in her heart. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the joyous spirit of the holidays. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, Kay’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
Kay is survived by her children and their spouses: Dru and Melissa Hannon of Fitzgerald; Jay Paulk of Fitzgerald; Lyn and Allen Brady of Lakemont; and Suzanne and Randy New of Valdosta. She was the proud grandmother of Austin Hannon, Brayden Hannon, Pressley Paulk, Ty Paulk, Marley Kayt Paulk, Chandler James, Conner James, Peyton Brady, Ann Brady, Landon New, and Brooklyn New. She is also survived by her sister, Earlene and Larry Troupe of Fitzgerald. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Hannon, and her parents, Earl and Dorothy “Dot” Beggs Alligood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christian Kitchen, P.O. Box 1195, Fitzgerald, GA 31750. These donations will continue Kay’s legacy of generosity and support for the community she loved.
