The victim has been identified as 62-year-old John Wayne Gross from Lincoln. The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. when Gross was hit by a westbound vehicle while leaning against a sign on the center median. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Vanessa Nicole Williams, was found to be under the influence of drugs and was taken into custody on suspicion of motor vehicle homicide. Gross was taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Authorities urge any witnesses to come forward by contacting them at 402-441-6000.
