Stephen Zawie Early Life
Dr. Stephen Zawie was born and raised on Long Island, and throughout his childhood, he has had a strong interest in veterinary care. He spent numerous hours at his father’s veterinary clinic while he was growing up in Stony Brook, which helped him acquire a profound passion for animals and an understanding of how to care for them. This early experience laid the groundwork for a distinguished career that would be devoted to the healthy and happy lives of animals.
After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he majored in Animal Science, Dr. Zawie moved away from his home on Long Island to continue college education. In the latter stages of his scholastic career, he attended Ross University in St. Kitts for a period of three years, during which time he established a strong foundation in veterinary medicine. His education was finished at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he also received more training and development of his skills.
Stephen Zawie Career
During his time in Baton Rouge, Dr. Zawie was able to witness the horrific effects that Hurricane Katrina had. His participation in the rescue and rehabilitation operations for animals that were impacted by the storm was similar to that of a significant number of his colleagues. After receiving treatment from Dr. Zawie, a particular animal, a pet that had suffered severe injuries and was dehydrated, made a miraculous recovery. The fact that this animal, which Dr. Zawie affectionately referred to as “Pickles,” became a treasured member of his family is a reflection of his profound compassion and his unwavering commitment to his vocation. Currently, his family also consists of two kids, Jackson and Austin, who are both very cute.
Following the completion of his studies in veterinary medicine, Dr. Zawie was granted admission to the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, which is widely regarded as one of the most prominent and rigorous internship programs. It was through this experience that he was able to refine his talents in the areas of medicine and surgery, which ultimately prepared him for a prosperous career in veterinary medicine. He subsequently went on to work as an associate veterinarian in progressive veterinary hospitals in Manhattan and Bayridge, Brooklyn, where he gained a great deal of knowledge and skill.
The year 2018 marked the realization of a long-held desire for Dr. Zawie, who opened his own veterinary office, Greenwood Veterinary Care, in the neighborhood of Greenwood Heights in Brooklyn. Because of his wide expertise, compassionate approach, and steadfast devotion to animal health, his clinic soon established a reputation for delivering outstanding care to pets and their owners. This was due to the fact that he was able to provide exceptional care. A GoFundMe was created to help with his funeral and memorial.
