In 2018, Jazmin Boyd played a significant role in Grambling’s most successful squad to date in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. The institution declared Boyd’s death on Saturday. in a post which wrote “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our former women’s basketball student-athlete and GSU alumna, Jazmin Boyd,” Tigers athletic director Trayvean Scott said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, teammates and all who were touched by her remarkable life.” We ask for everyone to keep the Boyd family in your prayers during this very difficult time.” Boyd played for the Tigers from 2015-2019, averaging 12 points and 3 rebounds per game.
Boyd was a part of the 2017-18 Grambling team that defeated No. 2 Texas Southern and and No. 1 Southern on back-to-back nights to win their first Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament title since 1999. She scored a team-high 19 points in the 66-59 SWAC semifinal win over Texas Southern and led the team in scoring with 20 points in their NCAA tournament first round loss to Baylor.

The Greenwood Fire Department told News 8 that a motorcyclist lost their life in a late-night collision on U.S. 31 in Greenwood. The rider was recognized by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office as Indianapolis native Connor Stevens, 20.
Just before ten o’clock on Friday night, there was an accident. According to Greenwood Fire Department public relations officer Tyler Swardson, the motorcycle rider was traveling on U.S. 31 and Main Street when they had an unexpected collision.
The rider was pinned beneath the bike as a result of the incident. According to Swardson, “units located just down the street arrived very quickly.” They managed to free the subject from under the car in ten minutes. Regretfully, that patient was declared dead at 9:55 p.m.
