Jack Gear Death – Following a jet ski collision on Tuesday night, 10-year-old Jack Gear passed away. Union City Elementary School is in sorrow for his heartbreaking loss. A serious collision involving two personal watercraft took place on Old Hickory Lake in Wilson County. A 19-year-old female employee from Boxwell Campground was piloting one of the jet skis carrying Jack, a well-liked pupil at the school. Critical injuries were sustained by both Jack and the young child in the collision.

The collision took place near the Roxwell Reservation, a popular campground for Boy Scouts. According to officials, the jet ski operated by the 19-year-old collided with another watercraft, which was being driven by another campground staffer with a juvenile passenger. The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to both parties involved. Emergency services quickly transported Jack and the 19-year-old to separate hospitals—Jack to Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and the woman to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, Jack was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
