Gavin Dasaur Obituary, – A man was fatally shot following a road rage incident that escalated into a violent confrontation on the southeast side of Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at Thompson Road and Emerson Avenue at approximately 8:22 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious man with gunshot wounds lying on the road. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 p.m. He was identified as 29-year-old Gavin Dasaur by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
Witnesses at the scene informed investigators that the shooting seemed to stem from a previous road rage altercation involving a black Honda and a white Chevy pickup truck. They indicated that the driver of the pickup truck was the one who fired the shots.
Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. After discussions with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, the individual was detained and subsequently released. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to secure surveillance footage that may shed light on the events leading up to the shooting.
