Russell Lawrence Death: Memphis, TN – Russell Emerson Lawrence, a beloved son, brother, and fiancé, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, in his hometown of Memphis, TN. Born on February 28, 1995, in Plano, TX, Russell moved to Memphis as a small child, where he would go on to build a life full of passion, love, and achievement.
Football and School Spirit
Russell’s passion for football began in the third grade and continued throughout his school years. He was a standout player and captain of the Briarcrest Christian School football team, graduating with the class of 2013. His love for the Dallas Cowboys was a cherished bond he shared with his father, often watching games together. After high school, Russell attended Mississippi State University, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
A Man of Many Talents
Russell’s intelligence and ambitious spirit shone through in all his endeavors. Well-read and informed on current events, he was known for being an engaging conversationalist. His musical talents were equally impressive; he played guitar beautifully and had a deep appreciation for all genres of music. Russell’s charisma and charm earned him the love and respect of everyone who knew him.
Faith and Family
Above all, Russell was a devout believer in Jesus Christ, placing his faith in Him at the age of fifteen. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and provided him with strength and guidance. Russell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. William E. Lawrence, Janette Russell Lawrence, Mildred and Hubert Shields, and Raymond Cothren; his unborn baby brother, John Daniel Lawrence; and cousins Christopher Brown, Samuel Pearl, and infant Joel.
Survived by Loved Ones
Russell leaves behind a large, loving family to cherish his memory. His parents, John Russell Lawrence and Lisa Cothren Lawrence, who recently returned to Bolivar, TN, after raising their family in Memphis, and his sister Olivia Ann Lawrence, whom he adored, reside in Memphis. He is also survived by his fiancée, Caroline Rainey McCann of Memphis, with whom he had planned a future filled with love and happiness.
Celebration of Life
Services for Russell will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Bolivar First Baptist Church, with Chris Carter and Scott Pearl officiating. Burial will follow at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers are Luke Gordon, Chase Thrasher, Chase Floyd, Jordan Duncan, Dane Provence, Brady Boswell, Cameron Moss, Justin Webster, John Tucker, Phillip Lawson, Mark Provence, and Lane Brown.

In honor of Russell’s courageous battle against cancer, memorial contributions can be made to the Baptist Cancer Center. His family and friends take solace in the knowledge that Russell’s faith and love will continue to inspire those who knew him.
