Joseph was a talented mechanic whose love for cars and trucks was evident in everything he did. His early years were filled with activities that showcased his hands-on skills, from playing baseball in high school to serving as the president of the Future Farmers of America.
Career at Easter Tire
Joseph worked for many years at Easter Tire, which later became Best One Tire. Here, he built a reputation for his expertise in tire sales and service, becoming a trusted figure in the community. His playful nature and willingness to help others made him a beloved colleague and friend.
Hobbies and Personal Interests
Outside of work, Joseph enjoyed tinkering with cars, building derby cars, and especially loved working on his Chevy trucks. His passion for mechanics extended beyond his job, becoming a beloved hobby that he shared with family and friends.
Family and Loved Ones
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Brittany Cousino of Saint Marys; sons: Joseph “Joey” Drayton Jr. of Rockford, Chad Drayton of St. Marys, and Douglas Fonner of Rockford; sisters: Loretta Martin and Becky Drayton of Toledo; brother Steve (Jenny) Drayton of Colorado; and the mother of his children, Karen Fonner of Rockford. He also leaves behind six grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.
Preceded in Death
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his stepfather, Glen Layman; grandparents: Margaret Drayton, Harley, and Nola Drake; and brother-in-law Rick Villanueva.
