LOS ANGELES (WSVN) — Legendary fitness guru Richard Simmons has died, TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, police were called by his housekeeper to his California home on Saturday morning, where he was pronounced dead.
Born in New Orleans in 1948, Simmons attended Florida State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in art before moving to Los Angeles.
He rose to fame in the 1970s and ’80s by opening gyms in Los Angeles and releasing fitness tapes and DVDs.
Simmons turned 76 on Friday.
No foul play is suspected at this time
