Ellory Butch Burgess Jr, Cody Goode Obituary, – Louisiana State Police announced on Saturday that a tragic collision occurred on Friday, July 12, in Beauregard Parish. The collision resulted in the passing of Ellory “Butch” Burgess Jr., 59, of Longville and Cody Goode, 29, of Dry Creek.
As per LSP Troop D, troopers were dispatched to a collision on U.S. 171 at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday. After conducting an investigation, troopers revealed that Burgess was operating a dump truck heading south on the highway near Willow Branch Road when, for reasons yet to be determined, the dump truck veered off the road, went down a ditch, tipped onto its right side, and collided with multiple trees.
Troopers confirmed that both Burgess and Goode were not wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries, and passed away at the scene. A minor passenger, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Standard toxicology samples were gathered for further examination. The investigation is currently ongoing.
