Maxwell Harry Amenson Obituary – The child who passed away in a head-on collision on Sunday has been identified by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Northwest Fisher Lane, just north of the entrance to Cottonwood Recreation Area near Saylorville Lake. Two individuals were in each vehicle involved in the crash. The driver and a juvenile passenger in the northbound vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital, where the child, identified as 10-year-old Maxwell Harry Amenson of Polk City on Wednesday, succumbed to injuries. The occupants of the southbound vehicle, including the driver and passenger, were treated for minor injuries at the scene and later discharged.
