A 45-year-old male from New Lenox has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metra train on Monday morning, July 8th, 2024, in New Lenox, Illinois.
This information was provided by the office of Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers. As stated by the Will County Coroner’s Office, Joshua A. Doss, 45, was killed after he was struck by a Metra train travelling in the northbound direction less than a mile south of Joliet Highway. In the morning, at 7:50, Doss was pronounced deceased.
In the early morning hours of Monday, Metra reported that SouthWest Service train #802 had struck a pedestrian near Joliet Highway at approximately six o’clock. This caused the train to stop both inbound and outbound service near Laraway Road. There is an investigation being conducted by the Metra police. The eighth of July, 2024 was the day that an autopsy was carried out. After the autopsy, police, and toxicological reports have been compiled, the final cause and manner of death will be determined.
