Juan Eufracio Lopez Gutierrez Obituary – The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently looking into a tragic auto-pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of a man. The victim has been identified as Juan Eufracio Lopez Gutierrez, a 36-year-old resident of Edcouch. According to DPS spokesperson Sgt. Maria Hernandez, the incident occurred north of Elsa, on FM 1925 west of Engelman Road early Tuesday morning at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Sgt. Hernandez stated that initial findings suggest a Chrysler Town and Country, driven by a male individual, was heading eastbound on FM 1925 at the time of the collision.
Gutierrez was crossing FM 1925 when he was struck by the Chrysler. Subsequently, he was propelled into the air and landed on the front windshield of a Chevrolet Silverado, also traveling eastbound on FM 1925. The Silverado was occupied by a male driver and two male passengers, as per Hernandez.
Following the impact, Gutierrez fell onto the pavement. Fortunately, neither the drivers nor the passengers sustained any injuries, and none required hospitalization. Tragically, Gutierrez succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
