John Thompson Obituary – A man lost his life and two individuals are still in the hospital following a house fire on Monday. The fire occurred at a duplex home on Ardmore and Plainfield Roads. Upon arrival, firefighters observed dark, black smoke emanating from multiple second floor windows. One man was found trapped on a second floor balcony.
The names and conditions of the hospitalized individuals have not been disclosed. The victim has been identified as John Thompson, 61, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. Despite the presence of working smoke alarms, the residents chose to remain in the house under “smoke conditions” to retrieve their belongings.
Additional fire departments, including Lyndhurst, Beachwood, Mayfield Village, and Richmond Heights, also responded to the scene.
