Robert Clinkscales Obituary – A man from north Georgia was discovered deceased in Lake Rabun after going missing overnight. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources was notified of a potential drowning at the lake on Saturday afternoon.
Reportedly, 39-year-old Robert Clinkscales, a resident of Dillard, was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. The following morning, his shoes and phone were found at the entrance of the property’s boathouse. Following a brief search, Clinkscales’ body was located in 40 to 50 feet of water, approximately 30 feet from the boathouse.
A diver was able to recover the man’s body around midnight. It has since been sent to the Rabun County Coroner for an autopsy.
Officials have not disclosed any details regarding the events leading up to Clinkscales’ passing.
Clinkscales is the second individual to drown in Georgia during the Fourth of July holiday. On Friday, 16-year-old Laquvis McCray from Atlanta drowned while on a trip with family and friends to Tybee Island near Back River.
