Joe Marroquin, a well-known officer with the City of Bellaire and the Bellaire Police Department has tragically passed away. He was announced dead by the Bellaire Police Department in a social media publication that read “The City of Bellaire and the Bellaire Police Department express deep sorrow at the tragic loss of Bellaire Police Officer Joe Marroquin.”
What was Joe Marroquin cause of death?
On Wednesday, July 3, a two-vehicle collision on the Castlepollard to Mullingar road in Westmeath resulted in the death of Joe Marroquin. Irish-born Joe and Cathy were in Whitehall, Westmeath, visiting relatives. At approximately 5.30 am, an accident occurred on the R394 near Gartlandstown, Castlepollard, while the couple was traveling in the direction of Dublin Airport. After their vacation, they were headed back to Texas.
The 80-year-old man who was riding in one of the cars was declared deceased at the site. It is reported that his wife’s condition is critical. The Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore is where she is receiving medical care. With injuries deemed to be non-life-threatening, the two males in the second car, who were in their 20s and 30s, were brought to hospitals in Mullingar and Tullamore.
Who was Joe Marroquin?
Joe Marroquin served with the United States Marine Corps before becoming a Police Officer in 1970. Joe worked for Bellaire PD from 1972 – 1985, joined Harris County, and returned to Bellaire in 2017. We thank him for serving. Joe and his wife Cathy both have Irish ancestry and Cathy was also a beloved member of the Bellaire Police Department.
