Jerry A. Mailhoit, Sr Obituary – The Virginia State Police (VSP) reported that a 67-year-old individual passed away following a collision in Roanoke County. VSP is currently looking into a two-vehicle accident that resulted in a fatality. The incident took place on Friday at 4:25 p.m. on Interstate 81 southbound at the 133-mile marker in Roanoke County.
As per VSP, a 1998 International 4700 was heading south on Interstate 81 when it rear-ended a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
VSP identified the driver of the International as Jerry A. Mailhoit, Sr., 67, from Crossville, TN. Mailhoit was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later passed away.
The driver of the Freightliner did not sustain any injuries. VSP mentioned that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
