Matt Moody Known for his steadfast friendliness and support, Matt had a significant influence on everyone around him. The core of his personality is encapsulated in this passionate tribute: “I’ve known him for years, from my first burlesque troupe.” He was always encouraging. Matt was the only one to check in with me after I moved to an Iowa City troupe that ultimately disbanded. He was the type of guy that looked out for everyone at all times.” Everyone is in shock over his passing.

Matt Moody’s absence will be deeply felt. He was a fun-loving, sincerely kind, and beloved figure. His most recent theater or film effort, the Norman Baker video series with Chad T. Bishop, demonstrates his continued interest in the arts. As we say goodbye to Matt, we recall his upbeat personality and loving heart. May he continue to be the life of the party in paradise, and may his family and friends take comfort in the legacy he has left behind.
Matt, travel safely. The world has lost one of its best today. Matt was more than just verbally committed to his friends and the community. Matt was the first to volunteer as the first show slot for the newly created burlesque ensemble, and he went to every show he could. His encouragement and support were unwavering, guiding many people through difficult times and instilling confidence.
Contributions to Village Theatre
Matt joined the Village Theatre in 2014, bringing a multitude of ideas, energy, and a strong passion for the arts. He played a variety of roles, including handyman, producer, actor, sound guy, bartender, restroom cleaner, yard mower, booker, and promoter. Matt touched every area of the theater with his skillful hands. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Matt was known for his generosity and intelligence. He was a father figure to many, providing wise counsel and a reassuring presence. His intelligence and unearthly intuition made him a reliable confidant.
He established a safe space at the Village Theatre, particularly for the LGBTQ community, where everyone felt welcomed and supported.The Village Theatre joins the community in mourning Matt’s passing, offering love and light to his family, Mandy M. Moody and Lauren Moody, as well as everyone who was touched by this lovely guy. A Celebration of Life is being planned to honor Matt’s memory and legacy.
