Demorrio “DJ” Thurman Obituary – A former Thomasville High School football player died in a car accident in Leon County, Florida on Wednesday, June 26. Jonathon Delay, the head football coach of Thomasville High School, spoke with WALB on Friday, June 28, and described 19-year-old Demorrio “DJ” Thurman as a talented wide receiver and cornerback, as well as a remarkable individual.
Thurman was recognized as WALB’s Play of the Week in September 2022 for his outstanding performance. The crash occurred on Thomasville Road in Leon County at approximately 2:34 p.m. on June 26, when DJ’s car “lost control for unknown reasons,” according to Florida Highway Patrol. Coach Delay expressed that the entire team, school, and community are grieving and are grateful to have known such an exceptional person.
