Matthew Paul Gilchrist Obituary, – A man from Rives Township passed away following a collision on Thursday evening. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 39-year-old individual was operating his moped in a northbound direction on Lansing Avenue, just south of Henry Road, at approximately 9 p.m. on June 27.
The man veered off the road and collided with an embankment, resulting in him being ejected from the moped. Despite the efforts of first responders to save his life, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the driver, identified as Matthew Paul Gilchrist, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. It was determined that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
