A Chicago man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting in the West Ridge neighborhood earlier this month. Nicolas Novak, 18, was identified by police as the individual responsible for the shooting that took place on June 8, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old man in the 2900 block of W. Devon Avenue.
Authorities apprehended Novak on June 25 in the 6500 block of N. Damen Avenue, which is in close proximity to the location of the shooting. Novak now faces three felony charges: First Degree Murder, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (UUW) with a Loaded Firearm without a Firearm Concealed Carry Act (FCCA) or Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (UUW) with a Silencer.
Novak is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on June 28. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
