HENDERSON, Texas — Henderson ISD is mourning the loss of a beloved elementary school student.
According to the district, Stevee Hale, 6, passed away Sunday, June 16, in Tyler.
“Stevee, who would have been a first grader next year, was an exceptional student and our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time,” HISD said in a statement. “During a recent school board meeting, Board President Russell Brown, who knew Stevee personally, led trustees in a moment of silence to honor and remember her. In a statement read by Brown, one of her teachers described Stevee as ‘the perfect mixture of wild and sweet. You knew she was in the room, and you truly never wanted her to leave. To know her was to completely adore her, and she left this world with a little more sparkle than it had before she got here.'”
HISD asked the community to keep Hale’s family in their prayers.
“Stevee’s loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, and while we know her friends, classmates, and teachers will continue to struggle with her loss, her memory will forever remain in our hearts,” HISD said.
Hale was laid to rest Friday, June 21, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
