Carlos Mercado Chavez Obituary – Approximately one month following the fatal shooting of a man in Phoenix, two teenagers have been apprehended by the authorities in connection to the homicide. On the morning of May 28, Phoenix police officers responded to a call for a welfare check made by a woman who discovered her boyfriend, 22-year-old Carlos Mercado Chavez, deceased in his vehicle due to gunshot wounds.
The incident took place on the 2900 block of East Michael Drive, situated just east of the intersection of 28th Street and Greenway Road. After conducting an investigation, detectives identified two suspects involved in the crime – a minor under the age of 18 and 19-year-old Derrick Teague.
Law enforcement successfully located and arrested Teague on June 21, while the other teenager was taken into custody on June 22. Both individuals have been charged with various felony offenses, including murder and armed robbery, and have been remanded to jail.
Authorities have stated that they do not suspect the involvement of any other individuals in relation to this case.
