The victim, who had life-threatening injuries, was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. The suspect, a 44-year-old man named George Kenneth Curtis, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Cheryl Lynn Sheldon, a 62-year-old woman from London. The police have stated that the victim and the suspect were acquainted. Curtis is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. Throughout the weekend, police officers have been stationed outside the apartment building where the incident occurred.
In addition to announcing the murder charge, the police also issued a statement regarding intimate partner violence and femicide, emphasizing the persistent threat it poses to the community. Prior to this weekend, there had only been one homicide in London this year.
