Mary Weaver Obituary – Additional information has been provided by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office regarding the fatal stabbing incident that took place on Wednesday morning along Interstate 80. The victims have been identified as Gary and Mary Weaver, a married couple from Eureka, Missouri, who were traveling in their mobile home through Nebraska at the time of the incident.
James Thompson, Jr., a 22-year-old from Ohio, is currently being held in the Hall County Jail. He stands accused of attempting to rob the couple at around 7 a.m. at the westbound rest area near Grand Island. Thompson faces multiple charges, including felony murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault, robbery, and various counts related to the use of a deadly weapon, theft, fleeing from arrest, reckless driving, and traffic violations.
Mary Weaver, one of the victims, remains in critical condition at Grand Island Regional Hospital. The investigation will continue, and an autopsy will be conducted on the male victim to gather further evidence.
