Enrique Ruiz Obituary, Death; – Enrique Ruiz, a 43-year-old man from Moreno Valley, was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident on the westbound 60 Freeway near Frederick Street. The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
It remains unclear whether Ruiz was attempting to cross the freeway or why he was in the No. 1 lane where he was struck by a truck. The truck driver, who was unharmed, pulled over to the shoulder and cooperated with the CHP officers. Unfortunately, paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department pronounced Ruiz dead at the scene within five minutes. As a result of the accident, all westbound lanes were temporarily closed for an hour, with the HOV lane reopening by noon and all lanes fully reopening just after 1 p.m. The resulting traffic congestion led to the issuance of a Sigalert.
Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is urged to contact the Riverside CHP office at 951-637-8000.
