ROXBURY, MA—A Dorchester man was arrested early Wednesday morning after committing an armed robbery on Columbia Road, according to the Roxbury Police Department.
Jose Ramirez-Martinez, 38, was apprehended by officers from District B-2 following a robbery report around 12:36 AM at 535 Columbia Road. It is alleged that Ramirez-Martinez confronted a victim with a firearm, demanded money, and after obtaining approximately $140, he assaulted the victim with the weapon.
The victim, who suffered injuries from the incident, received prompt medical attention from Boston EMS and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After receiving a description of the assailant, police officers located Ramirez-Martinez near 471 Columbia Road. He surrendered without incident upon the officers’ approach. Following a positive identification, he was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
Ramirez-Martinez is scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
