Nancy Mackenzie Obituary, Marge Simpson In Latin America Voice Actor Died At 81: Actress Nancy MacKenzie, best known for voicing The Simpsons’ character Marge Simpson in Latin America, has died at the age of 81. News of her passing was announced by her co-stars Patricia Acevedo and Claudia Motta on Instagram, who respectively voice Lisa and Bart in the Spanish-language version of the hit animated show.
“With profound sorrow, the Simpson children (Lisa and Bart) announce the death of our beloved mum, Marge Simpson (Nancy MacKenzie). Rest in peace, we will never forget you,” reads the translated caption, alongside a photo montage of the three together over the years. MacKenzie voiced The Simpsons matriarch for 15 seasons in Latin America. She additionally lent her voice to Spanish-language versions of Disney’s Cruella de Vil and Scooby-Doo’s Daphne, and dubbed the voice for Trinity in The Matrix.
Actor Humberto Vélez, who voiced her on-screen animated husband Homer, shared his own Instagram tribute following the news. “[We spent] many hours together, working and travelling,” he wrote. “A lifetime. Your passing hurts me very much, but I celebrate your love of life, of being free and living life fully.” Vélez thanked his late colleague and friend “for always listening to me” and her “unconditional support.” “Thank you for the laughs, the debates, the trust. Thank you for going through this part of life with me,” he continued, signing off by adding: “You are many things. You are my wife Marge. Thank you, Nancy MacKenzie.”
MacKenzie also lent her vocal talents to the character Sailor Galaxia in the anime series Sailor Moon Cosmos. Her co-star in the show, Danichuy Chico Mágico, was another colleague to post a tribute publicly, stating that “the world of #SailorMoon and dubbing is in mourning” following her death. Born in Peru, MacKenzie moved to Mexico in her 20s, where she became a stage and TV actor. The Simpsons season 35 is currently airing on Sunday nights on FOX in the US. Seasons 1-34 are currently streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
