Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar Obituary – A fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot at Vaughan Mills on Tuesday evening, where a 21-year-old woman from Hamilton was identified as the victim. Two men from the GTA are now in custody in connection with the killing, according to the police.
The incident took place just before 5:30 p.m., prompting officers to respond to the busy shopping center north of Toronto. Paramedics rushed the woman, who had suffered a gunshot wound, to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar, aged 21. While an interaction led to the shooting, the exact circumstances remain unclear at this time, as stated by the police. Const. Kevin Nebrija informed reporters on Wednesday that the relationships between the two accused individuals and the victim are currently unknown, but it is believed that they are acquainted with each other. He also assured the public that this incident is targeted, posing no threat to public safety, and there are no outstanding suspects or vehicles involved.
Two individuals from Brampton have been charged in connection with the murder. Courtney-Ashton Brooks, aged 23, has been charged with first-degree murder, while Donte Morris Taylor, aged 22, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Although the motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined, the woman’s car was taken during the incident, according to YRP. The shooting occurred during the early evening, when numerous patrons were present at the bustling Toronto-area outlet mall. A witness described seeing an unconscious woman lying on the ground and hearing the sirens of emergency vehicles rushing to the scene, expressing concern about the incident happening in broad daylight in a shopping mall parking lot.
As the investigation continues, a section of the mall’s parking lot remains cordoned off by yellow police tape. Nebrija urged anyone with dashcam footage from the parking lot of Vaughan Mills or anyone who witnessed anything related to the incident to contact the homicide department.
