The law enforcement source told Local 10 News that the deputy’s brother arrived at the scene at the same time as deputies Tuesday morning. BSO says Schlapik was off duty when he took his life and released the following statement: “This is a difficult day for our agency as we try to help each other through the sudden loss of one of our deputies. Our immediate concern is for his family and co-workers, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to process this tragedy.”
