Christos Alexander Obituary – A fatal incident occurred in Tampa as a result of a confrontation between a man and deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The man, identified as 19-year-old Christos Alexander, shot and killed both of his parents on Saturday night. The incident unfolded when deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block of Cactus Wren Place in response to a shooting. The initial call came from a woman who reported that her husband had been shot and that additional shots were fired during her conversation with the dispatcher.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered the caller, who was also the suspected shooter, outside the residence. Tragically, the suspect proceeded to shoot his mother before turning his weapon towards the responding deputies. In response to the imminent threat, five deputies returned fire, striking Alexander. He then retreated into the house. To safely enter the premises, a robot was deployed, leading to the discovery of Alexander’s deceased father.
Subsequently, the SWAT Team located Alexander inside the home, where he had succumbed to his injuries. During the incident, Deputy Shane McGough sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. He is currently receiving medical treatment and is expected to recover.
In a press conference addressing the shooting, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister revealed that deputies had been called to the residence on ten separate occasions since 2021. These previous encounters primarily involved mental health issues and instances of violence perpetrated by Alexander against his parents. Firearms had been confiscated from Alexander in the past due to an active risk protection order.
Authorities are now investigating how Alexander obtained the firearm he used to carry out the tragic act of violence against his parents.
Sheriff Chronister commended the swift and courageous response of his deputies, emphasizing that their actions prevented further harm to the community. He stated, “Our deputies responded to a chaotic scene and immediately put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community. Without our deputies’ quick and skillful response, an entire neighborhood would have been in danger.”
