Tammy Annette Smith was born on July 17, 1970, and left us to be with the Lord on June 6, 2024. During her 53 years of life, she loved and was loved by many. This was unceasingly expressed throughout her roles as daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. This love was expressed to her mother, Nancy Villareal, as Tammy devoted herself to her constant care and comfort, just as her mother had done for her. Tammy’s children are also a living testament to her sacrificial and dutiful love as a mother. They can attest that Tammy’s family was her pride and joy. She loved being a mother and took extraordinary pride in each of their accomplishments, especially when it resulted in her new role as grandmother. As for her grandchildren, they will never doubt her immense love for them because of her devoted presence in each of their lives. As for anyone else who knew Tammy, they all have their own cherished memory of a time Tammy made them laugh and feel loved.
Tammy lived in numerous places throughout her life, but Silverton was always her home. During her time in Silverton, she found many areas of work. For instance, she loved the restaurant business, whether it be owning or helping to manage. She found her true happy place when she began to work at the town’s clinic with her girls. There, she was able to help and grow relationships with those in her town. She cherished everyone in her life, but you could always bet that if it were the afternoon, or the weekend, you would find Tammy relaxing, chasing tornadoes, or even causing mischief with her best friend, Kristi Wadlow.
Additionally, Tammy dedicated many years of her life to the Silverton Volunteer Fire Department and Silverton EMS. She has a passion for helping others that was passed to each of her children.
Tammy is survived by her mother, Nancy Villareal, of Silverton, TX; Tammy’s husband, James (Yopie) Smith of Silverton, TX; son, Tyler Garvin, and his wife, Misty, of Silverton, TX; daughter, Brittany Price, and her husband, Will, of Acworth, GA; daughter, Reba Vandever, and her husband, Ryan, of Mobeetie, TX; and her son, Dylan Smith, and his wife, Chloe, of Snyder, TX. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Keyser and his wife, Connie, of Davidson, OK; and sister, Donna Heard and her husband, Dannye, of Tyler, TX. Tammy also leaves behind her ten precious grandchildren: Zyler, Damian, Joshua, Ryan, Rylan, Ransyn, Allison, Genesis, Kaitlyn, and Gracelyn. Finally, Tammy is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Tammy is preceded in death by her father, James Marte Keyser, her two brothers, Marte Joe Keyser and James David Keyser, and her grandson, Sebastian James Garvin.
Tammy’s warm, fun-loving personality and her willingness to help anyone in need made a boundless impact on her friends, family, and her community. Her memory will be held close by all who had the honor of knowing her as we all wait to be united with her once more.
