Summer Hemphill Obituary, – A tragic event unfolded overnight in the Okolona vicinity, resulting in the shooting and death of a man. The incident took place shortly after 3 a.m. on Woodcross Place, near the intersection of Preston Highway and Cooper Chapel Road.
Family members present at the scene confirmed that the victim was a 33-year-old man and a father to a young son. The shooting occurred at a residence located in the 5500 block of Woodcross Place. Upon receiving the report, the Louisville Metro Police promptly responded and discovered the victim with a gunshot wound. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Summer Hemphill, a resident who grew up on Woodcross Place, expressed her shock and disbelief at the occurrence of such violence. She mentioned that the neighborhood had been generally peaceful, making this incident all the more surprising. Hemphill, who was visiting from Cincinnati for the weekend, had already been informed about the murder that took place nearby.
Her mother provided her with details, describing the scene as filled with numerous police cars. Hemphill expressed her hope that incidents of gun violence remain infrequent in the area. As family members gathered outside the residence where the shooting occurred, Hemphill emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that it was a frightening experience.
