Two people tragically lost their lives in a crash involving a pickup truck on Friday afternoon near Clearwater Township in Wright County, Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 50-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were riding on a motorcycle traveling southbound on Highway 24 just after 12:45 p.m. The motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near 179th Street Northwest. The state patrol reported that the pickup truck was turning left to travel north on Highway 24 when the collision occurred.
Unfortunately, according to state patrol officials, neither of the motorcyclists was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Tragically, both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported to the people in the pickup truck.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash to determine the exact cause and circumstances that led to it. Preliminary reports suggest that the pickup truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.
This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of wearing helmets while riding motorcycles. Helmets are critical safety gear that can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury or death in a crash. The absence of helmets in this case may have contributed to the severity of the motorcyclists’ injuries.
As the investigation continues, authorities will work to gather more information and determine any further actions that may need to be taken. The community and loved ones of the victims are left grieving this devastating loss, and support services are being made available to those affected by the tragedy.
