Nathaniel J. Wicker Jr Death – A 79-year-old man from Dry Prong, Ronald E. Futrell, tragically lost his life in a crash that occurred early on Friday in Grant Parish, as confirmed by the Louisiana State Police. The incident took place at approximately 5 a.m. on U.S. Highway 167 at Forest Service Road 196, which is located to the north of Dry Prong.
According to an official news release, Futrell was driving a 2012 Nissan Frontier in a northbound direction on U.S. 167. Nathaniel J. Wicker Jr., a 28-year-old from Baker, was also traveling northbound in a 2019 Hino commercial vehicle. Unfortunately, Wicker failed to slow down and ended up rear-ending Futrell’s Nissan.
Tragically, Futrell did not have his seat belt on at the time of the collision and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. Wicker, on the other hand, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, the passenger in the Hino did not sustain any injuries. The authorities have obtained a toxicology sample from Wicker, and the results are currently pending.
This particular crash marks the 29th fatal incident within Troop E in 2024, resulting in the 31st death.
