Eva Castillo, 58, of Tulia, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Martinsville, IN surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10 a.m., in the Tulia Methodist Church with Pastor Heath Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Eva Castillo, beloved daughter of Juan and Leticia Contreras, was born March 21, 1966, in Lockney, Texas. Eva spent her formative years in Tulia, where she received her education and graduated from Tulia High School in 1984. It was in Tulia that she found love and companionship when she married Joe Castillo February 8, 1985.
Eva’s life was one filled with dedication and love. Eva was a woman of many talents, excelling in her roles as a wife, mother, homemaker, and administrative professional. She furthered her education by earning a clerical certification from Western Oklahoma State University and a ministry license from IBLO (Instituto Bíblico Latino de Oklahoma). Eva also shared her love of faith by teaching at IBLO and ministering both inside and outside of the church, spreading light and hope to those around her.
Her kind and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by family and friends. Eva’s memory will be cherished, and her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Leticia Contreras; numerus half-siblings, aunts, uncles, and one nephew.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Joe Castillo and her son, Shawn Castillo; her cherished daughter, Evelyn Myers and son-in-law Heath of Martinsville, IN; her sisters, Frances Howell and husband Matt, and Eubie McCrary; her brother, Reyes Contreras and wife Shannon; and extended family in Oklahoma and Texas.
