Jason Lowery Obituary, – The Vermont State Police has released the identity of the trooper involved in the shooting incident that occurred in Orange on Wednesday. Trooper Adam Roaldi, who has been a member of the Vermont State Police since 2019, fired his service weapon during the incident. Trooper Roaldi has served in various divisions and barracks throughout his career and is currently stationed at the Berlin office.
The individual who was shot and killed has been identified as Jason Lowery, aged 41. Lowery had been residing in different locations in central Vermont. An autopsy conducted by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Lowery’s cause of death was gunshot wounds to the neck and torso, and it has been classified as a homicide.
The Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. The situation unfolded when a local family services agency requested a welfare check related to a juvenile at a residence on Spencer Rd. Trooper Roaldi arrived at the scene and engaged with individuals at the residence. During this time, he discovered Lowery, who appeared to be unconscious, seated in a car in the driveway. Trooper Roaldi immediately called for medical assistance and additional police units.
As Trooper Roaldi attempted to communicate with Lowery, he regained consciousness and engaged in conversation with the trooper. However, Trooper Roaldi noticed a sawed-off shotgun near Lowery and repeatedly instructed him to exit the vehicle. A struggle ensued over the possession of the shotgun, which was captured on Trooper Roaldi’s body-worn camera. In adherence to standard procedure and to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the Vermont State Police will not provide further details at this time.
