Sydney Weston Obituary – Illinois officials are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic incident involving an 8-year-old girl from Missouri who experienced a medical emergency during a commercial flight and unfortunately passed away.
The young girl, identified as Sydney Weston from Carl Junction, was on vacation with her family when she suddenly fell ill and became unresponsive while in flight. The Peoria County Coroner’s Office released a statement regarding the incident, expressing their condolences to the family.
The incident occurred on a SkyWest Airlines flight that originated from Joplin, Missouri and was headed to Chicago. The Peoria County Sheriff, Chris Watkins, confirmed the details of the flight. According to Flight Aware, an online site that tracks flight paths, SkyWest Flight 5121 departed from Joplin Regional Airport early in the morning and made an emergency landing at Peoria International Airport in Illinois after approximately 42 minutes in the air.
Upon landing in Peoria, it was discovered that the young girl was not breathing and had no pulse. The flight personnel were immediately notified of her condition, and they promptly provided aid. Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to the airport for a medical emergency, and life-saving measures were initiated as soon as the plane landed. The girl was then transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
